Avatar, in my opinion, is one of the best examples of showing how CGI can aid the narrative rather than trying to distract from the narrative.

Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon Trailer + Mark Kemode Reviews
I got around to watching Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon this weekend and I found how Mark Kemode presented the viewing experience of watching this film rather accurate in this review.
